Public Improvement
Streetscapes
The City of Bradford has secured funding through multiple sources over the past fifteen years to invest in the City’s streetscape infrastructure. Over 25 residential streets have seen new sidewalks, curbing, street lights, paving, crosswalk and handicap ramp improvements. Boylston Street and Kennedy Street were improved as a part of the restoration of Old City Hall. More recently, $4 million was invested in Main Street, Congress Street, Pine Street and Veteran’s Square. Plans call for additional streetscape improvements in the Third Ward Neighborhood and the downtown historic district.

Callahan Park
Phase 1
The City is also embarking on a major upgrade to the facilities in Callahan Park. In 2023, Phase 1 work in the amount of $1.4 million began with the installation of a new playground, replacement of interior and exterior sidewalks, removal of old fencing and entry posts with new posts and decorative fencing. The basketball courts have been resurfaced with new lines, benches, backboards and nets. The tennis courts have also been resurfaced and reconfigured from four tennis courts to two tennis courts and four pickleball courts.

Phase 2
Bradford, PA – October 31, 2025 – The City of Bradford is pleased to announce the completion of the 2025 Callahan Park Recreation Improvements Project. These upgrades mark another important step in enhancing one of the City’s most popular community parks and ensuring it remains accessible and enjoyable for residents and visitors of all ages.
The Phase 2 project included: Replacement of the small pavilion on the southwest side of the park with two new picnic pavilions. Installation of a new ADA-compliant single-use restroom facility. Reconstruction of the parking lot, providing ADA-accessible connections to sidewalks and picnic areas. Replacement of the inner loop sidewalks and installation of new walkways connecting the pavilions and restroom. Addition of new picnic area amenities, including grills, ADA-accessible fountains, benches, and trash receptacles and the installation of a new park entrance sign to welcome visitors to the improved facility.
“These improvements make Callahan Park a more welcoming and accessible destination for everyone in our community,” said Mayor Tom Riel. “We are grateful for the partnerships and funding support that made this project possible.”
